Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy protects HostVera, customers, networks, infrastructure, and the public by setting rules for lawful and responsible use of hosting services.

2. Illegal Activity

Customers may not use HostVera services to violate federal, state, local, or applicable foreign law.

3. Security Abuse

  • Unauthorized access or credential theft.
  • Malware, ransomware, botnets, backdoors, or destructive code.
  • DDoS or other intentional network disruption.
  • Unauthorized scanning, probing, exploitation, or intrusion.
  • Hosting tools primarily intended to facilitate unlawful access.

4. Fraud and Phishing

Prohibited activity includes deceptive websites, fake login pages, fraudulent payment portals, impersonation, credential harvesting, identity theft, and schemes intended to obtain money or information through deception.

5. Spam and Email Abuse

Customers sending commercial messages are responsible for compliance with applicable anti-spam law. 6. Intellectual Property

Customers must have necessary rights and permissions for hosted content. HostVera may respond to legally sufficient copyright complaints. See the Copyright/DMCA Policy.

7. Personal Information Abuse

Customers may not use HostVera services to unlawfully expose, collect, sell, or misuse personal information. Customers remain responsible for privacy notices, consents, security, and legal compliance for their websites.

8. Resource Abuse

Services are for normal website and application use. Excessive resource consumption that materially impacts shared infrastructure may require optimization, restriction, upgrade, or migration. See the Resource & Service Use Policy.

9. Child Safety

HostVera services may not be used for child sexual abuse material or other unlawful exploitation of children. Any suspected material will be handled consistent with applicable law and law-enforcement requirements.

10. Enforcement

HostVera may investigate credible reports and may request remediation, restrict access, suspend service, terminate service, preserve relevant information, or cooperate with lawful authorities. Immediate action may occur when necessary to address an active security or legal threat.

11. No General Monitoring Duty

HostVera does not undertake a general obligation to monitor all customer content. We may use automated and manual security measures and act when we become aware of credible violations or threats.

12. Third-Party Requirements

Customers must comply with reasonable requirements imposed by upstream providers when necessary to maintain network or infrastructure service.

13. Reporting

Abuse reports should be submitted through Support and should identify the relevant domain or service, describe the issue, and include supporting information without passwords or payment details.

14. Changes

HostVera may update this policy as technology, threats, or laws change.
